About Us

Thanks to the reach of the Internet, people around the world have access to incredible volumes of information. Online courses have exploited this to improve the delivery of education. Today, the rise of the Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) has opened up top-tier educational content from the best universities, taught by the best professors, all for free. MOOC platforms have garnered both a large user base and praise for democratizing a previously unobtainable commodity for millions globally.

Although MOOCs have been extremely successful at aggregating great content and distributing it, doubts have been raised about the efficacy of the medium for deep learning. MOOCs face incredibly low completion rates. (See: http://www.katyjordan.com/MOOCproject.html) In order to reduce this hurdle, it is critical to differentiate between students who are just “window shopping” and those actually trying to finish courses but falling behind.

StudyCloud wants to help students excel at their learning wherever they are. The success of the group learning experience is determined by much more than just the course content. There's a need for a community that encourages daily interaction and a well-designed platform to help students find the information they need when they need it most. The MOOCs have nailed content. Its time to improve the design and delivery.
